Announcing the 2017 MSUG Student Simulation Competition

What:

The Michigan Simulation User Group is looking for exemplary uses of simulation by current students who attend school in the state of Michigan.  The MSUG Student Simulation Competition is intended to be an open competition for any students to submit their best/favorite/most interesting simulation project.

All submissions should include a short video of the simulation model running and a written report with an executive summary, an explanation of the problem or challenge addressed in the simulation model, solution(s), and recommendations.  Reports should be a maximum of 10 pages excluding the appendix.  A slide presentation (ex: PowerPoint) can be substituted for a report if desired.

This must be an original submission that has not been published or presented (except as classwork) prior to submission in the contest.  All submissions must be accompanied by a signed letter from a sponsoring faculty member certifying all materials are the original work of the submitting student(s).

Who:

Open to anyone who is a current student at a Michigan school during the 2016/2017 school year.

When:

All entries should be submitted to the MSUG steering committee by midnight (EST) July 31st, 2017.  The winning team or individual will be notified by September 15th, 2017.  The winning team or individual must be able to join us at the 2017 MSUG conference to present their winning entry in order to be eligible.

How:

Each team must have a faculty advisor who can certify the work submitted belongs to the submitting students.  To register, please have your faculty advisor email SimulationContest2016@m-sug.org with a list of team member names and contact information.  You will receive a team number which will be required in the subject line of all contest submissions and further instructions for submitting your entry.

A panel of current MSUG members will evaluate the purpose, organization, detail, validity, and analysis associated with each submission.  The winning entry will receive a cash award of $500 from MSUG.
